How Finance Fuels our Mission: Q&A with Director of Finance, Josh Adreyo

Q: Who do you serve with your team and how?
A: I strongly believe that first and foremost we are in the customer service business. Our customers just happen to be our colleagues. We directly serve the leaders of our programs – directors and managers - thereby indirectly we serve our participants.

By ensuring that those employees can focus on working with participants and helping meet their needs rather than worrying about financial constraints, we support the overall mission of the agency. Whether by assisting with a grant application or providing financial insight into how the program is faring, we work with program leaders daily.

Q: How would you describe your team in a few words?
A: Thoughtful, Responsive, Flexible

Q: What are your goals as a team?
A: 1. Provide exceptional day-to-day service to our program managers and directors. 2. Produce and provide timely and accurate financial information for decision-makers. 3. Ensure appropriate non-profit specific controls are in place to ensure compliance within the department.

Q: What motivates your team to do this work?
A: The awareness of being part of something bigger. Bigger than producing financial statements or monitoring cash flow - knowing that the reason behind the work has tangible impacts on the lives of folks in our surrounding communities is all the motivation you could ask for.
