Young Adult Services

Young Adult Services

Auberle recognizes that not all young people have a safety net in place to catch them during challenging times. Our programs for young adults are designed to care for and empower young people who are transitioning out of the foster care system, experiencing unstable housing, and learning to live independently so they can thrive as successful members of our community.

Ward Home: Building Independence, One Step at a Time

Through three programs — two supervised independent living programs and My Best Self — Ward Home continues to make a huge impact on young people in our region as a subsidiary agency of Auberle.

Ward Home Programs

Ward Home’s Supervised Independent Living program provides young people ages 16-20 in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems with apartment-style housing and 24-hour support, where they are taught vital life skills to teach youth the responsibility of independence through the philosophy of self-discipline.

Ward Home offers more than just temporary housing; it provides a safe, nurturing home environment where the youth are encouraged to reach their individual goals and grow into successful, independent members of the community.

Ward Home’s My Best Self program empowers teens and young adults with child welfare involvement, or who are experiencing homelessness, to look good, feel better, and be their best self.

My Best Self offers:

  • Hair and skin care training
  • Culturally specific self-care products and guidance on how to use them
  • Self-care bags for program participants
  • Social skills workshops, and more

The program's goal is to empower each young person, promoting confidence, self-worth, and respect for people of all backgrounds and walks of life. My Best Self engages the small business community by partnering with local beauty salons and barber shops through a preferred vendor list.
