Giving from the Heart: Jim and Carla Wilding

Our supporters make Auberle’s work possible through their dedication and faith in our mission. This quarter, we want to give a special thank you to Carla and Jim Wilding. The Wildings continuously demonstrate the giving spirit of time, talent, and treasure, and Jim has recently furthered his commitment by joining the Auberle Board of Directors.

For nearly 15 years, the Wildings have supported Auberle in countless ways. In addition to generous charitable giving, they’ve volunteered at 412 Youth Zone etiquette dinners, sponsored and helped plan Voices Carry, and brought their own children to Auberle to deliver gifts and spread joy for the Christmas holiday.

“Carla and I love volunteering and coming to events. It’s really special when you can directly interact with the people you want to serve through your support,” Jim said. Carla added, “Auberle really reflects the idea of encompassing, serving, and welcoming everybody.”

Jim and Carla were introduced to Auberle by Jim’s friend and now business partner Greg Weimer, who formerly served on Auberle’s Board. They were drawn to Auberle’s identity as a faith-based agency and believe the organization embodies this spirit.

One of the first ways the Wildings became involved with Auberle was by sponsoring Rayna Dubose — a motivational speaker with an incredible story — to speak to Auberle’s youth. Rayna was a Virginia Tech basketball player who lost her arms and legs to bacterial meningitis. Also VT alumni, Jim and Carla were moved by Rayna’s story and reached out to her. “She said ‘absolutely,’” Jim recalled. “She had powerful conversations with the kids about how no matter what hand you’re dealt, you can make your life everything you want it to be.”

Rayna’s inspirational visits are one of many cherished memories the Wilding family has of their longstanding partnership with Auberle. Jim and Carla recall being especially moved when their own daughters used their church ministry, “Sew I May Serve,” to connect with Auberle youth.

“Our girls and their friends created beautiful tie-blankets alongside young women in Auberle’s residential program. It was awesome because you realize in those moments how much all young people have in common,” Jim said. “Kids are kids, no matter where they come from, and they all deserve to be loved and understood.”

The Wildings’ contributions, both individually and through their company, Confluence Financial Partners, have assisted Auberle in countless ways, helping remove barriers to success for our clients so they can achieve their full potential. Partners like the Wildings are a critical part of the reason our organization can spark positive and widespread change today, tomorrow, and for years to come.

Most recently, Confluence Financial Partners renewed their leading Rockstar Sponsorship of Auberle’s 2022 Voices Carry event, which will be held on Wednesday, September 14th from 6 pm to 10:30 pm at the Westin Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh. Learn more and purchase tickets here.

Thank you, Wilding family, for your support!
