Auberle Receives National Non-Profit Award, Recognized as “Agency of the Year”
Non-profits reinvent themselves to increase impact in communities
McKeesport, PA – (Oct. 18) – Auberle was designated by the Alliance for Children and Families, a national membership association for human service organizations, as “Agency of the Year” in their budget category at the National Conference today in Orlando, Fla. The Alliance for Children and Families is the largest network of human services organizations in the United States, with several hundred member agencies, employing 55,000 staff and serving over 3.4 million children a year.
Auberle was selected as “Agency of the Year” for its expansion into new program areas and increased service provision, significantly reducing the time it takes to implement new programs to meet community needs. The agency launched a Girls’ Programming Initiative to address the disproportionate number of programming resources available for at-risk girls in the community compared to their male counterparts. The initiative resulted in vast support from the local community including Carlow and Robert Morris Universities and national research partners including the National Center for Juvenile Justice and National Girls Institute. In nine months, the agency researched and developed a new girls-specific program, purchased a building and property, underwent property subdivision and rezoning, designed an all new girls’ campus, completed $950,000 worth of building renovations and launched a new program.
“This is an example of where the non-profit community is going,” said John Lydon, Auberle CEO. “Non-profits are reinventing ourselves and have been for some time. We have become much more creative, efficient and focused on delivering impact in the communities we serve. The result in our overall capacity is such that it stands out. Auberle’s recognition as “Agency of the Year” by the Alliance, an organization that benchmarks non-profit best practices across the country, is a greater indicator of that progress.”
The agency also simultaneously launched 22 other unique initiatives, in addition to girls programming, that enhanced facilities, created new opportunities for clients or improved service to children and families. Three agency programs also performed perfectly during the year, with 100% success rates in meeting the goals and objectives identified for each child and family receiving services through that program.
“The Alliance and our more than 350 members benefit from having Auberle as a part of this network of nonprofit human serving organizations,” said Susan Dreyfus, president and CEO of the Alliance. “We are pleased to honor Auberle with this award, as it has shown a clear commitment to living its mission each day.”
