Positive Choices Program
A Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program in partnership with Adagio Health
Auberle is excited to partner with Adagio Health on a two-year teen pregnancy prevention project called the Positive Choices Program.
The program uses an evidence-based, comprehensive sexual health education curriculum with 14 sessions designed to be used in high schools and community settings with at-risk youth. The curriculum is medically accurate, age-appropriate and trauma-informed. We aim to provide teens with the knowledge, skills and resources to:
Reduce their risk of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), HIV/AIDS, pregnancy by abstaining from sex or using an FDA approved contraceptive method, including condoms.
Build healthy relationships and teach adolescents components of healthy relationships.
Recognize the warning signs for unhealthy relationship behaviors, including human trafficking.
Build communication and negotiation skills to decrease risky behaviors.
The program has been implemented at four Auberle sites: Ward Home’s two supervised independent living facilities for youth ages 16-20; the GATE/Bloom program for young women ages 13-20 and the 412 Youth Zone for young people ages 16-23 aging out of foster care. The project aims to serve approximately 260 young people.
The Positive Choices program provides some of the region’s most vulnerable youth with access to important resources and information to keep them safe and healthy.
