NORTH VERSAILLES: Foster mom honored

A 70-year-old North Versailles woman will be honored Nov. 14 as the Pennsylvania Foster Parents Association's Foster Parent of the Year.

Dolores Flowers, who has cared for 34 children in just the past four years, will be feted at the association's annual banquet in Harrisburg.

She was selected from more than 15,000 foster parents across the state.

Flowers took her first foster child in June 1983. She has cared for youngsters ranging in age from 2 months to 17 years, and for as many as six children at a time, some for just a few days. She parented one for 12 years.

She is one of 29 foster parents supervised by the Auberle Foster Care Program, based in McKeesport.
