In-Home Services works with child protective service
agencies to help families who are in crisis. Our
ultimate goal is to keep families together and to keep
children safe!
Families
accepted in the program are at risk of having their
child/children removed from the home. Families are likewise
accepted for services if they are looking to reunite
with children who have been removed or placed. Auberle
In-Home Services works with willing families to provide
the necessary skills to strengthen the family unit.
We will do whatever is necessary to protect the children
while keeping them safely at home. |

Auberle
has seen amazing successes in In-Home Services since its start
in 1989. Since then, we have continually expanded and altered
our services to meet the needs of referred families:
-
1991 - Auberle In-Home Services received a second In-Home
Program contract allowing us to extend our services to a
more intensive 4-6 week program.
- 1994
- Auberle expanded program services to include families
in Westmoreland County.
- 1998
- at the request of Allegheny County Children, Youth and
Families (ACCYF), the Allegheny County program was consolidated
into the Auberle Intensive In-Home Services Program, enhanced
to provide referred families with intensive services for
up to 90 days with the possibility of extending services,
if necessary.
- 2004
- at the request of Westmoreland County Children Bureau
(WCCB), Auberle started an Intensive Family Reunification
Program (IFRP). The Intensive Family Reunification Program
(IFRP) is designed to provide intensive reunification by
master level clinicians. Both clinical and life skills are
provided. The primary goal is to return a child to a safe
and permanent home.
- 2005
- Westmoreland County In-home Services and Intensive Family
Reunification Program (IFRP) began servicing Westmoreland
County Juvenile Probation.
Auberle
currently has one program in Allegheny County called “Intensive
In-Home Services,” and two programs in Westmoreland
County. They are “In-Home Services and “Intensive
Family Reunification Program”.
Philosophy
Auberle In-Home Services respects each family's and individual's
right to self-determination. We assist the family in ensuring
that the basic needs of the children are being met within
their own cultural, spiritual and emotional context. As an
agency, we do not impose our values on families, rather, Auberle
pinpoints the strengths and values of the family and with
their willingness, helps them find their way to strengthening
and healing.
Program
Description
The focus of intervention is to stabilize the family in crisis
and preserve the family unit. We work in the home intensively
to prevent out-of-home placement. We provide concrete as well
as clinical services:
24 hour referral service
24 hour crisis intervention
Parenting Education/Support Group
Personal and home care resources
Medical referrals
Community resource referrals
Transportation
Teaching of non-physical discipline, communication
and conflict resolution skills
Social activities
Referrals
Auberle In-Home Services will accept referrals 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week. We ask that the county worker attend the
initial home visit with us to clarify the reason for the referral
and establish goals with the family.
Families
referred must meet the following criteria:
At least one child is at risk of removal or is currently in
placement outside the family home.
At least one adult in the home is willing to work with
the service.
An alleged or actual sexual abuse perpetrator cannot
reside in the home.
What
Makes In-Home Services Different?
Services are intensive and tailored to meet the needs
of the families.
Family Preservation Specialists carry small caseloads,
usually no more than three to four families, allowing them
to devote the time needed to affect change.
Our focus is on empowering families and teaching skills
that will assist in dealing with stress and crisis situations
in the future.
We focus on a family's strengths, building upon them
and allowing the family maximum input in treatment planning.
