Amanda Potts, member of the St. Mark Youth Group in Port Vue, PA, wanted to do something special for the boys and girls at Auberle.
Amanda Potts, member of the St. Mark Youth Group in Port Vue, PA, wanted to do something special for the boys and girls at Auberle. Amanda was introduced to Auberle through Auberle volunteer, Marcy Cendroski, during a youth group meeting. Amanda, an eighth grader at Elizabeth Forward Middle School, recruited some of her classmates, Mattie Winowitch, Madisyn Saunders, and Madeline Hill along with their advising teacher, Linsey Smith, to help organize the Gifted and Talented Education project (GATE). The group planned several fundraisers, from March through May, such as a bake sale, school spirit week and teachers “jean day”. Some of the items donated were dental hygiene products, toiletry items, school supplies and a check for $455.00 to support Auberle’s Summer Games 2011. Kudos to Amanda, her classmates and the Elizabeth Forward Middle School for their support and generosity!
