BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST
 

Job duties:

  • Assist teacher in continued assessment and individualized instruction.
  • Participate in the multi-disciplinary team meetings.
  • Provide daily individual group counseling, behavioral intervention, problem solving and contracting to ensure the safety of the classroom
  • Provide crisis intervention.
  • Assist in the collection, maintenance and transfer of student records.
  • Responsible for students’ daily routines.
  • Perform Behavioral Specialist duties throughout the school year, but during the summer session support the residential counseling staff when school is not in session.
  • Initiate daily security checks on students upon entry of school and during the school day as deemed appropriate.
  • Work with the teacher in establishing strong communications between parents/guardian, school district, and if appropriate, Case workers or Probation Officers.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership, organizational, and time management skills.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED, but Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • At least one-year experience within education or human services field.
  • Ownership of a reliable vehicle, a valid PA driver’s license and proof of insurance are required.
