Auberle Recognizes Contributions of Archbishop-Designate Donald
W. Wuerl

At the meeting of the Auberle Board of Directors
on Monday, June 5, 2006, a few Auberle Children joined Board
Chair John Stockhausen and Auberle Development Board Chair
Joe Blattner in recognizing Archbishop-Designate Donald W.
Wuerl’s contributions to Auberle in his 18 years on
the Board.
Bishop Wuerl was involved in every major decision
- guiding, advocating, building and leading Auberle to be
a premier social service agency in Western Pennsylvania. With
his passionate leadership and concern for the preservation
of family life, Auberle:
- Grew from one site serving 200 abused, troubled and neglected
children and families to eight sites serving 2,600.
- Cared for the most needy regardless of financial cost
and now offer residential care, foster care, emergency shelter,
in-home intervention, alternative education, student assistance,
drug and alcohol and mental health programs.
- Served children and families in every county of the Diocese.

Auberle children will always remember the personal
interest he showed in celebrating Christmas Masses in our
Chapel with them when they had no where else to go. He gave
them the most precious gift – his love and attention.
