Kids
from the Auberle Varsity Basketball Team made an overnight
trip to New Jersey to play in the Ranch Hope Mustang
Basketball Tournament, held on March 24 – 25,
2007.
Auberle
has been involved in this tournament for many years,
but it is the overall experience that makes the trip
so worthwhile for those who participate. Even thought
the team didn’t make it through all of the tournament
play, the kids really had a great time and many said
that they will remember the experience for years to
come.
Auberle
is focused on teaching sportsmanship, which isn’t
necessarily about winning. Earning the right to participate
in extra-curricular activities, building relationships,
having new life experiences, and meeting new friends
are primary lessons that the kids learn from participating
in traveling events like this.
Ranch
Hope, located in Alloway, New Jersey, provides social
services to kids. Auberle kids who took part in the
tournament got a rare chance to visit the facility’s
barns. During the weekend, they saw the horses and other
animals while getting to study an actual working ranch.
Staff and kids are already looking forward to next year’s
tournament.
