Auberle Good Samaritans Looking to Help!

Background
One of the important lessons we teach the children is to have them not see themselves always in need but rather understand they have talents that can benefit others and they need to use those talents to that end. For this reason, many Auberle children participate in the Bishop Wuerl Good Samaritan program.
Auberle youth volunteers have participated in a number of cleanup and beautification projects for several years. This past year, a much greater emphasis has been placed on serving the elderly.

Using fliers to help spread the word, Auberle children serve the elderly by cutting grass, raking leaves, shoveling snow, painting, making repairs and doing general cleanup. The children feel proud of the work they do, which is always much appreciated. They leave with a good feeling and sense of accomplishment.

Sometimes Auberle children will team up with outside groups as they did this past year with the GE Volunteers in completing a number of projects for the elderly. The children understand that giving is often more rewarding than receiving.

Getting Help
The Good Samaritans are looking to serve more people with needs in our community. If you or someone you know is incapable of doing the general house maintenance tasks due to age, medical condition or other reason, please consider taking advantage of the good work by the Auberle Good Samaritans.

Areas Served
Auberle Good Samaritans are able to work throughout the Mon Valley, under supervision, including McKeesport, White Oak, Liberty, Glassport, Port Vue, North Versailles, Clairton, East McKessport, Duquesne and Turtle Creek.
